FFCS spring sports close out banner year
Fonda-Fultonville's final spring season in the Western Athletic
Conference finished with a flourish.
Track
Both girls and boys track
and field teams captured the WAC title "for the umpteenth time,"
said Athletic Director Alex Mancini. Individual performances
included:
-
Senior Shane Smith raised
the bar by winning the shot put and discus at the Eddy Meet,
placed first in the discus and second in the shot at the State
Meet, established new records in the discus and shot at the WAC
Championships, and shattered the school record in the discus.
-
Samantha Swinney set a new record in the
Girls Pentathlon at the WAC Championships
Softball
The softball
team captured the WAC North title, upset Johnstown 5-4 in the first
round of Sectionals, then fell to Section II champion
Mechanicville.
It was a fitting end to FFCS's last year in the WAC. September
2010 marks the start of the Braves' foray into the highly
competitive Colonial Conference.

2009-10 a banner year for Lady Braves basketball
The 2009-10 will go down in the record books—literally—for
Fonda-Fultonville's girls basketball program. It was a year of
individual and team accomplishments, something that Coach Wendy
Waters admits comes only rarely. Her senior squad compiled an
outstanding record, her star player broke record after record,
and Coach Waters tallied her 200 win in just 11 years. (full

Lady
Braves head to UConn
On Saturday, Nov. 14, the Lady Braves JV and Varsity basketball
teams traveled to the University of Connecticut's Gampell
Pavilion in Storrs, CT to watch the number one team in the
nation, the UConn Lady Huskies, defeat Northeastern 105-35. More
than simply entertaining, the trip gave the ladies a rare chance
to experience the level of play of one of the nation's best
womens college basketball programs. The time away from school
